In 2015, at the 9th edition of the QA All Schools Cross Country Relay Champs, Sheldon College took out 75% of the titles on offer. It was only Gold medals that separated the Sheldon College Primary School Boys team from Emmanuel College, with both teams finishing on 7 points but Sheldon taking the win after producing 2 more golds than Emmanuel.
Moving onto the Secondary School Boys championship, it was another 2 Gold medals that pushed Sheldon to the lead once again in front of a tie for second between Emmanuel College and Brisbane Boys College, who finished with a full set of medals, grabbing a gold, silver and a bronze each.
Heading over to the Primary School Girls championship and a huge performance from Brookfield State School scored them the most points out of any team across the categories, stopping a Sheldon College clean sweep by collecting 3 Gold medals and 9 points. Sheldon College were hot on their heels though finishing just 1 point behind them on 8.
The most hotly contested championship of the weekend though had to be the Secondary School Girls division, with a three-way tie for first place between Brisbane State High, St Aidan’s Anglican Girls Schools and, once again, Sheldon College. All three schools grabbing a gold and silver each to finish on 5 points.
In the Queensland Athletics Cross Country Championships, it was Fast Track Athletics that took the victory last year, finishing with 4 Golds and 6 Silver medals to finish the day on 48 points. Athletics North came in second on 38, with 3 hold, 3 Silver and 4 bronze. Thompson Estate came in 3rd with 1 Gold, 4 Silver and 4 Bronze to score 30 points, with Ashgrove Rangers and Intraining both finishing on 26 points but Ashgrove’s 4 Golds pushing them ahead into 4th with Intraining in 5th.
